Child-Teen BMI Calculator
BMI calculator, Body Mass Index, approximates your level of body fat based on your height and weight.
Along with your child’s gender and age the BMI can be used to determine their percentile and resulting health risk indicator.
This BMI Calculator only applies to Children and Teens, those 2 through 19 years old. If you are 20 years old or over then please use the Adult BMI Calculator.
- Enter the Date of Birth
- Enter the Gender
- Enter the height in feet and inches or total inches
- Enter the weight
- Click on the Calculate BMI button to determine your BMI
- Review the results
The data for determining the percentile for an age and gender was adapted from the data and guidelines as released by the CDC.
The BMI Calculator is only accurate for heights up to 7 feet.
Note that BMI Calculators are NOT accurate if the person has a muscular build since the calculator has no way to know the body fat percentage of the individual.
Note this BMI Calculator uses Javascript. If you have Javascript turned off or you have problems running the BMI calculator click on How to calculate BMI - Formula to see how you can manually calculate your BMI.

I appreciate a calculator being here, but I think it should be be paired with a body fat calculator, or a disclaimer saying that if you are very muscular this is not accurate.
Simple because according to this my BMI is 25.7 which puts me as overweight, and at risk for diabetes.
However, I am a very active individual, active for hours every day, and I have a very muscular body, because I swim frequently.
After seeing what this told me I because very worried, and nervous that I was a lot larger than I had thought, but after speaking to my family doctor I found that I’m not of unhealthy weight at all.
So I just think you should provide more information for cases like my own, and save some people a lot of stress and worry.
Thank you :]

Thanks, Elisabeth for your comment. Of course you and your doctor are correct. The BMI calculations are a guide and not absolute. They also are not accurate for those with a muscular build. I’ll add this to the page. Sorry for any extra stress and worry.
