Goal Setting

Goal setting is a powerful tool. This tool will help you achieve your ideal future and convert your dreams into reality.
The process of setting goals allows you to choose where you want to go in life. By knowing where you want to go in life, helps you to concentrate you energy towards that goal. You will also know quickly the distractions that lure you away from your journey.

By setting clearly defined goals, you can see each step you take as being a positive move in the right direction. You can expect motivation and self-confidence and develop a habit of setting goals in all aspects of your life. You will also find that you will become more organized both in time and resource management, so that each step towards your goal is successful.

Start by Setting Personal Goals

Every time you set a goal you will use these three steps.

1) The dream is the star that lights the tunnel. I’m sure you’ve heard of “seeing the light at the end of the tunnel”, well something is giving off that light and that object in reality is your goal. You visualize what you want and write it down.

For this example I will use the goal of dancing in a lovely sleeveless size 10 dress at my daughters wedding…

2) Next you will break down this goal into steps you must take in order to achieve your goal.

2A) Do an overview of your physical condition.
Determine your health statistics. Are you diabetic? Do you have unusually low energy, painful joints, what are you blood stats (low/high sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, iron, etc)? Will you need to see your doctor? If so, what is his advice on diet and weight loss for you?

2B) Determine your fat loss amounts. For my example above, currently I am in a size 14 dress, so I have 2 dress sizes to lose and I am not exercising at all, so I will need to start an exercise plan.

2C) Learn to dance. We currently know the basic of the back and forth, rock and roll type of dances, but would like to be able to dance like the stars! Well maybe move smoothly around the dance floor doing a nice Waltz or Fox trot. Since we will be stunning in our beautiful dress maybe we will do a sexy Rumba or Tango. Remember it take two to tango!

3) Now you have a clear step by step plan and you can begin working to achieve it. Measure and achieve these steps. Don’t be discouraged, that you missed a step, just add it in and keep going!

Your Life’s Goals

Set lifetime goals (or maybe goals to accomplish in the next 5 to 10 years). Look at all aspects of your life not just weight loss. A well rounded person is a happier person and to be successful in all aspect of your life will really make you happy. Isn’t that all we want anyway, to be happy, truly happy. You really can do it, just set your mind and strive!
